About

I have over twelve years of experience in the behavioral health field, working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.

I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. It was during an internship in graduate school that I realized my passion for working with individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders. I have since worked in a variety of both inpatient and outpatient settings in the Triangle.

Through these experiences, I have developed skills in quickly building rapport, navigating community resources and the ability to build on people’s strengths and cultivate hope. I am a proponent of integrative care that prioritizes whole-person care. I utilize a strengths-based perspective with clients and incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, depending on each client’s individual needs. I am an advocate of the “stages of change” model and “harm reduction,” which allows each person to define their own recovery. I also believe in the importance of teamwork and building a strong therapeutic alliance with clients.

I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment, where all individuals feel comfortable sharing their unique stories and challenges.

I am a native of Raleigh, and am deeply committed to my community. Outside of work, you will usually find me spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, reading, cooking or enjoying the outdoors.
